Three Steps To A Successful Portfolio featuring the Midsouth Illustrators

Midsouth illustrators Susan Eaddy and Mary Uhles created this video explaining how to put together a successful portfolio for the children's illustration market. It features the work of numerous talented artists in Tennessee and Kentucky and proves that while they can all illustrate a children's book, Picasso probably couldn't.

Getting started putting your work together? Watch this video for some good advice.

  1. I love this! Thanks for following through to bless us all with your good ideas! And.
(you know there's no such thing as praise without expectation...)
I would love, LOVE to see the topic of a next one, on what exactly, sort of, imprecisely, IS mass market versus trade illo style. In conference talks, it is always referred to, but when you put an AD on the spot and ask him or her, they say "uhh, go out and look". I remember agent Linda Pratt said for her, it was something about eyes.
Well? what do you think? I'd love to see general groupings and samples of what they "might" be meaning by "your style is too much mass market" or vsversa.
How about taking on another video, tackling a subject no one else has?! ;)
